Despite the ruffled sleeves and collars the Pilgrims found fifteenth century Amsterdam just a tad too tame. Rumors had spread about a land of half naked men across the sea and naked trumps ruffled every time. So they set sail for Cape Cod and anchored at Provincetown where they found the natives very friendly.
There they [...]

Today a Florida circuit court ruled unconstitutional a law that banned gay and lesbian folk from adopting children. The court’s decision based on equal protection and rights granted the children under the Adoption and Safe Families Act of 1997 shows that the welfare of children is in the State’s best interest.
Prepare to be deeply touched:

As I was perusing the site I clicked on the “Jobs” button. Wow! You can apply on line to work with the transition team. But what impressed me more was the anti-discrimination policy:
The Obama-Biden Transition Project [...]

Invitations for the reception sponsored by the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) offered “heavy hors d’oeuvres” and an “open bar” at the U.S. Catholic Bishops conference here in Baltimore.
Critics of the CCHD see its work with the poor, immigration rights, and its recent association with ACORN. as leftist. The heavy turnout at the CCHD [...]

Washingtonienne

The Washingtonienne is the new HBO pilot being filmed here in Mount Vernon. The traffic was a disaster in the north-east corner of Mount Vernon on Friday. Detours and parking restrictions for both the filming and for the Greek Festival congested this usual corner of tranquility. The new show is taken from the work of [...]
