The Family Leave Insurance Act of 2009 will amend the Family and Medical Leave Act to provide up to 12 weeks of paid leave benefits to workers who need to care for an ill domestic partner or child of a domestic partner, in addition to family members hitherto recognized under FMLA.
Under the new law, once passed, benefits provided by such forward thinking companies as Eastman Kodak, Imation Corp, and Hewlett-Packard, will become available to the rest of the nation.
