I’ve got a better idea. The offending disclosures can easily be eliminated by eliminating the contributions. If individuals want to support a measure, that’s what the voting booth is all about.

Back in the day conservatives were the ones that supported a free and open democracy. They were principled men and women who stood behind their convictions, also. They used to chastise liberals for looking toward the state to solve their problems.

Now Pa Kettle wants the taxpayers to bail out the wealthy and protect bigots from accountability. Poor Bill Buckley must be turning left in his grave over these misfits. It was he who said:

“I mean to live my life an obedient man, but obedient to God, subservient to the wisdom of my ancestors; never to the authority of political truths arrived at yesterday at the voting booth.”

Good news from Judge England. On the same card, if the H8s had their way, then they would not be able to openly criticize and threaten donors against Prop 8, which they tried to do. Pot…kettle…black.

You’re right Augustine. That’s what I meant by overlooking “their evangelism unless it gets truly obnoxious.”

People like that have an agenda, and it isn’t friendship. That’s truly obnoxious.

But can you overlook the fact that they might think your relationships are unworthy of the same recognition as theirs? Orson Scott Card apparently has gay friends who simply accept the fact that he doesn’t believe their relationship is equal to the one that he shares with his wife. Could you be friends with someone who thought that way about you? I honestly don’t think I could do it.

Augustine, I agree that our greatest opponents are motivated by their religious convictions. But a religious conviction is a poor substitute for a religious truth. Those who befriend us with the motive of “saving” us are annoying sometimes. Yet they, and the GBLT people who befriend them, are the bridge that will eventually bring us all together.

I don’t think it’s giving tacit support to their actions. If they’re nice people and their friendship is sincere then I just try to overlook their “evangelism” unless it gets truly obnoxious.
